The 2026 Surf City El Salvador ISA World Longboard Championship opened on October 16 at Club Salvadoreño, overlooking the right-hand point at El Sunzal. It’s the event’s fourth straight year in El Salvador, with 126 longboarders from 37 national teams. They poured sand from their home beaches into one container in the ISA’s traditional Sands of the World ceremony, and Finland is competing at the championship for the first time. Competition runs October 17 to 22.

France leads the field. Reigning world champion Edouard Delpero wants to be the first man to defend the title since South Africa’s Matthew Moir in 2008, and two-time champion Alice Lemoigne is going for a third gold, which no woman has won. Former champions Benoit “Piccolo” Clemente of Peru and Tony Silvagni of the USA are back too. ISA President Fernando Aguerre said the ISA will keep pushing to get longboarding into the Olympics: “we are not giving up.”
